Sacraments & Celebrations

Visitation

We could all use a little extra support now and again, whether we are stressed, working through grief or questions, physically hurting, or just wanting company. Pastor Amber is available for at-home visitation to offer conversation, prayer, and communion. If you or a loved one would like to receive regular visitation, please contact the church office to be added to our visitation list. For individual visits, contact Pastor Amber.

Baptism

Baptism is God’s gift for us to receive grace and the Holy Spirit through water and the Word. We baptize people of all ages, trusting that the work is God’s and not our own. You do not need to be a member of OSL or Melo to receive this sacrament. Please call the church office to schedule a date.

Holy Communion

Holy Communion is God’s gift for us to receive grace and renewal by receiving Jesus’ own body and blood fully present in bread and wine. We offer communion on first and third Sundays during worship, as well as special occasions. If you are homebound and would like communion brought to you, please contact the church office.

Affirmation of Baptism / Confirmation

While most of our members affirm their baptisms in tenth grade, this opportunity to make public declaration of one’s faith is available to any who would like to (re)commit to living in the covenant of baptism. Please contact Pastor Amber to discuss this opportunity.

Weddings

How wonderful it is to celebrate the joining of two lives in marriage. We have committed volunteers that help make the day special and run smoothly. Pre-marital counseling is available with Pastor Amber and highly recommended for couples. You do not need to be members of OSL or Melo to be married at our churches. Our fellowship halls are available for receptions after the ceremony. Contact Pastor Amber to begin planning.

Funerals and Memorials

At funerals and memorials, we are able to remember our loved ones who have died and lean into the heart of our Christian faith, where death gives way to resurrection. We work closely with DuBore Funeral Home in Warren to walk with those who grieve and assist families in considering how the service could best honor their loved one. Our churches have committed volunteers that provide a meal for those who desire fellowship after the service. You do not need to be a member of OSL or Melo for us to walk with you in this time. Please contact Pastor Amber if you have questions.
